Route Overview

The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as the most scenic route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers excellent acclimatization, fewer crowds during the early stages, and one of the highest summit success rates.

Duration: 8 Days / 7 Nights
Starting & Ending Point: Arusha, Tanzania

Day 1: Arusha – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp

Drive from Arusha to Londorossi Gate for registration. Begin a short trek through the rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Overnight: Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp

Trek through forest and moorland zones while enjoying views across the Shira Plateau.

Overnight: Shira 1 Camp

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp

A gentle hike across the plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak and surrounding landscapes.

Overnight: Shira 2 Camp

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Ascend to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to the scenic Barranco Valley.

Overnight: Barranco Camp

Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp

Climb the Barranco Wall and continue through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp.

Overnight: Karanga Camp

Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Ascend to Barafu Camp, the final base camp before your summit attempt.

Overnight: Barafu Camp

Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

Begin your summit push after midnight and reach Uhuru Peak. Descend to Mweka Camp for overnight.

Overnight: Mweka Camp

Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Arusha

Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate and transfer back to Arusha.
