Detailed Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival in Arusha

Distance: 30–50 km
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to Tulia Boutique Hotel & Spa (a 30-minute, 40 km drive).

Day 1: Tarangire National Park

Distance: 140 km
Non-game driving time: 2–3 hours

After breakfast, the journey begins with a brief stop in Arusha Town for any last-minute purchases. From there, head to Tarangire National Park for a game drive with a picnic lunch. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant population and iconic baobab trees. It is the centerpiece of an annual migration cycle involving up to 3,000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and 30,000 zebras. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the Bougainvilla Lodge.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park

Distance: 145 km
Non-game driving time: 3–4 hours

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park via the lush farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Serengeti’s vast plains, which stretch endlessly to the horizon. Arrive at the Seronera area, a central wildlife-rich habitat featuring the Seronera River, which sustains a diverse range of animals. Enjoy a picnic lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight will be at the Serenity Camps.

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drives in Serengeti National Park

Distance: Varies
Non-game driving time: 2 hours

Begin the day with an early morning game drive to spot nocturnal animals returning from their hunts and lions greeting the sunrise. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Serengeti, observing a variety of wildlife, including wildebeests, lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, hippos, rhinos, and many bird species. Dinner and overnight stay at Serenity Camps.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Distance: 145 km
Non-game driving time: 2–4 hours

Start the day with an early morning game drive before traveling to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En route, visit the Olduvai Gorge, a historic site where anthropologists Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey uncovered key links in human evolution. In the late afternoon, arrive at Bougainvilla Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha

Distance: 210 km
Non-game driving time: 3–4 hours

After an early breakfast, descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable wildlife experience. The crater is home to a wide range of animals, including wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, elephants, warthogs, hippos, and many predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Visit Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern part of the crater, where flamingos, hippos, and waterbirds are commonly found. In the late afternoon, transfer to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay or an airport drop-off. (Accommodation in Arusha can be arranged upon request for an additional cost.)
